Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies First Team were back in league action as they won all three points in a dominant performance against Crewe Alexandra at Poolfoot Farm.

The ladies flew out of the blocks, asserting their dominance early on, creating numerous chances. The pressure did finally pay off, as Charmaine Cardwel put Town in front after getting onto the receiving end of a brilliant corner. The rest of the first half would be all in Fleetwood’s favour, as the ladies were looking to grab a second before the break.

The second half started just as the first half had ended, with admirable attacking plays down either flank, and the hosts pushing for a second goal. Their hopes for a second would be fulfilled in the 74th minute, with Imogen Hill finding the back of the net, extending the lead to two goals and lifting some of the pressure off of the team.

The dominance would continue right until the final whistle, with The Cods playing with a high amount of pressure. It was a brilliant win for the ladies, a much deserved victory that they hope to build on in their next outing.

Now, over to the Development squad, where they welcomed Bolton County to Brews Park.

The Cods had a great start to the match, and with some fantastic football on display and looking a threat every time they had the ball, it was only a matter of time before they broke the deadlock.

The ladies were able to capitalise on the good start they had, where Katie Ramsbottom, who was named player of the match, was able to fire her shot past the keeper giving Town a very deserved lead.

However, before half-time, Bolton were able to grab an equaliser, which was much against the run of play, with Fleetwood being much the better team. Fleetwood would have more chances to get back in front but they couldn't find the finishing touch and it was all level at the break.

The second-half would be mostly Fleetwood as the dominant team, remaining on top in all areas for the majority of the half. The squad found no issue creating chances, but they just struggled to convert them into goals.

With the scores level, the visitors created a chance that would find its way into the back of the net giving them all three points - a sickening blow as the Cods should have put the game to bed much earlier into the game.

A frustrating game to take as the ladies more than deserved to come away with the win but they will hope to take the positives into their next game.
