Fleetwood Town can confirm Under-21s captain Will Johnson has joined National League side Gateshead on loan until the end of the season.
Johnson, who captains the Under-21s side, will be heading to his native North East to help Gateshead with their play-off push for the rest of the season as they currently sit one place outside the desired places, just one point behind Altrincham in seventh.
The 18-year-old has been on the fringes of the last 12 months, having been on the bench six times against the likes of Premier League side Burnley in the Fifth Road of the FA Cup and now-Championship title-contenders side Ipswich Town at home.
Another defender in Whelan is heading out to get some valuable experience from now until the end of the season at Sheffield FC, who find themselves sat in mid-table, but have produced title-worthy form in the last five games, winning four from their last five.
Also, Butterworth – who has stepped in as the Under-18s captain due to Kayden Hughes’ injuries this season – is all set for a good experience at the North West Counties Premier Division level with Ramsbottom United, where he will get his first taste of men’s football.
