Fleetwood Town have had a number of young players out on loan at different levels across the footballing pyramid and we’ve had a look at how they’ve been doing over the last month.

Starting off with Finlay Armstrong, who joined Rochdale AFC last month, and has since started all four games since the last report, featuring in wins over AFC Fylde and Kidderminster Harriers, as well as a draw on his debut against FC Halifax Town.

The full-back had a couple of notable moments throughout those games as he flashed a shot narrowly wide from 25 yards against Halifax, and played in the game where Ian Henderson netted his 200th goal in English football.

Moving on to Pat Boyes now at FC United of Manchester, who has had a mixed bag of results in recent weeks, having beaten both Stafford Rangers – where he made a brilliant diving save in the 50th minute to keep the lead – and high-flying Ashton United, a game in which he made a big one-on-one save.

From a goalkeeper to a new striker, Owen Devonport has recently signed for the Development Squad from Accrington Stanley and instantly went out on loan to the same side as George Morrison, King’s Lynn Town, and he made his debut in their clash against Darlington which took place at the weekend.

Both players caused plenty of problems at the top end of the pitch but were unable to find the crucial goal in the game, and it made it worse that they conceded the only goal of the game in the 92nd minute to lose out on the day. Morrison has also featured in four more games, playing the full 90 in all of them.

Another striker who is still out on loan is Will Russ, who managed to find the net once again for his respective loan side, Hyde United, in their 3-1 win over Radcliffe in their last outing before Christmas, with the side now sitting in fifth place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division in early January.

Finally, Under-18s midfielder Bosembo Namputu has recently gone out on loan to a team in the same division as Russ in Bradford Park Avenue and made his debut at the weekend in their 2-1 loss to Morpeth Town. Their goal was scored by Chinedu Osadede but conceded two goals in the last five minutes.

On top of this list above, three young players have made their way back to Fleetwood in the last four weeks as Theo Williams returned from his time at Torquay United, scoring three goals in 12 games, Billy Jones has come back from King’s Lynn Town, and Tom Hoyle has returned from his time at Witton Albion.
