Head coach Charlie Adam spoke to the press after his side gained a point at home as his side battled out an even 0-0 draw at home to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night at Highbury.

Despite some vital saves from Jay Lynch to keep the visitors at bay, Town were unable to break the deadlock themselves as two chances were cleared off Rovers’ line and Gavin Kilkenny saw his strike bounce off the crossbar meaning a goalless draw.

Here’s what he had to say:

On the match itself…

“I was disappointed with the first 45 minutes, there was no intensity with how we want to start games where we felt like we started the second half how we want to start games and played the second half much, much better, on another night we nick that and take three points home.

“In the end, it’s a point at home and another clean sheet, they had some good chances and Matt Taylor has a good side there but tonight we didn’t play how we played at their place when we won, in the end, we will take a clean sheet at home, and we will look forward to Saturday where we have to go full throttle.”

On his tools for the task ahead…

“It’s a good challenge and we are looking forward to that we have to focus on what we’re doing, there were some good bits tonight but also some bits we know we have to improve on.

“We do have that bit of magic up the pitch to cause teams problems, [Jayden] Stockley, [Phoenix] Patterson and tonight it was [Promise] Omochere’s first 90 minutes in a long time where with his pace and power he is always a handful and there isn’t many players like him in the league.

“We all stick to what we are trying to do, the players are always trying to be in the right shape and to have the right discipline, we believe we have the right belief to go in the right direction and when you see other results tonight, we will take a clean sheet and a point at home.”

On closing the gap to safety…

“You’ve had to hope that other teams do help you out, we didn’t win but it’s another point closer. We must try and win the games against (the teams above us) so we can close the gap and we’ve got a few big games coming up in the next couple of weeks.

“Whoever comes in I trust, I trust every individual that’s in the building in what we’re trying to do, they came on and they were organised. We have a group that’s sticking together, we believe in each other, they trust us, and we trust them.

“When you’ve got somebody of the quality of Mayor you think it’s going to go in, but again for us, it’s a clean sheet, another point on the board and we look forward to another big challenge on Saturday.”
