Fleetwood Town came away with all three points on Saturday afternoon after a 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the Lancashire derby at the Wham Stadium.

Harry Souttar scored the only goal of the match, and it came in the 50th minute with a bullet header past Dimitar Evtimov after Ross Wallace’s in-swinging corner. It was also his first since joining the Cod Army in January on loan from Stoke City – a moment he shared with the 447 travelling fans!

Town made it back to back wins in the league, putting pressure on the teams above them, and with two clean sheets back to back, it's going to go down to the wire for the last play-off place.

Here are the best quotes from the centre-half, Harry Souttar…

On the game and scoring the winner…

“It’s a great feeling scoring that winning goal, I should probably score more goals with the height that I am, and we’ve worked on that in training this week.

“Ross Wallace put in a really good ball to be fair to him, and I was six yards out so if I missed from there I would have probably got a shouting too in the dressing room after the game.

“It was a nice to get my first for the club too, especially in front of the fans because I just saw how much it meant to them. It was a really good day for me and the team.

“In the first half we had some great chances when we caught them on the counter-attack, and then in the second half when we took the lead the game opened up and that allowed us to have more chances in the match.

“We defended well throughout the match, and with Ash Eastham coming on he shored up the back line and we dealt with everything that came our way which means another clean sheet."

On the back to back wins…

“We’ve been saying all week that it is now all about the play-offs. We now have eight cup finals and that today was one of them. It’s three points and a clean sheet.

“It’s now important that we go and get another win next weekend at home against Southend, and make it three wins on the bounce. It’s a massive game and there’s always a team that comes through at the end. No one has really been talking about us so to pick up form now is vital for us."

On the travelling Town fans…

“Everyone of them was great today! You could see them all and hear them when we were on the pitch, and they definitely gave us that bit of an extra edge to push us over the line.

“We know that fans don’t win football matches, but they help massively and today was great to see them come out in numbers and obviously when I scored, the smoke bombs were on the pitch. It was a great feeling!”
