Town set to take strong Development Squad to Squires Gate

18 July 2017

Paul Murray has named a strong squad ahead of the Squires Gate friendly on Wednesday night (7:30pm).

Town's Development Squad head coach has picked seven players that recently made the trip to Austria, for the first team pre-season training camp, have been included. These are Billy Crellin, Michael Donohue, Godswill Ekpolo, Ashley Nadesan, Alex Reid, Nathan Sheron and Jack Sowerby.

Donohue recently joined the club from Premier League side Everton and had already seen some first team action, as he featured in Town’s pre-season win over Queen of the South.

Midfielder Sowerby will be going back to a place that is very familiar to him, as he is going back to the ground that he started his footballing career at. Town signed Sowerby from Gate back in 2014.

The squad includes one of the two goal scorers from the last Development Squad game, which was a 2-2 draw against Colne last Saturday, as Michael Duckworth keeps his spot.

Crellin (GK), Marment (GK), Baines, Biggins, Donohue, Duckworth, Ekpolo, Garner, Higham, Mooney, Nadesan, Reid, Sheron, Sowerby.
