Fleetwood Town

Marrow, who is 24 today,  teamed up with Graham Alexander’s men once again last week as he joined from Championship side Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season.

Jon Parkin’s fine individual strike midway through the second half was followed up with a well taken finish from the midfielder, who played near enough the full game, having come on as a substitute for Jeff Hughes after two minutes.

Northern Ireland man Hughes was the victim of a horrendous challenge which resulted in Pools’ midfielder Jordan Richards seeing red.

The win meant that the Cod Army stayed in sixth position, however they closed the gap on leaders Scunthorpe United to just four points. 

“I was surprised to get on as early as I did,” admitted the club’s new number 35. “I enjoyed it when I got on. It was a good result for us but it’s hard when you’re playing against ten men as they obviously just get everyone behind the ball, so we had to be patient and just break them down”.

Having not played competitive football for a number of weeks, Marrow admitted he found the going tough in the final period: “Towards the end my calves were getting a bit sore as I obviously haven’t played for a while, but that’s what I needed.”

The former Crystal Palace man made twenty appearances for the Cod Army last term and jumped at the chance to return to Highbury once again: “I enjoyed working with the manager last time and I know what the club is all about and that they want to go places, so I wanted to be a part of that.”

With Saturday’s victory, this now means that it’s three wins from three for Town, and confidence is high amongst the players insists Marrow: “If you put a few results together in this league you’re flying, but nobody’s really pulling away at the moment. We’ll keep doing our job though and that’s all we can really do”.
