Forward Jayden Stockley and midfielder Bosun Lawal have both been praised by the EFL and League One pundits after their performances in Fleetwood Town’s 4-2 win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
Charlie Adam’s side put on a clinical performance against the Latics at Highbury, earning the side’s first-ever win over the side from Greater Manchester thanks to a brace from Lawal, a strike from range by Gavin Kilkenny, and a header from Stockley.
Since his move up to the midfield, Lawal has been a stalwart in the Fleetwood side, with many teams unable to contain his power and pace in the centre of the park, and that was the case in the game on Saturday.
The number five netted a first-half hat-trick in some fashion as his first came after a one-two with Stockley before Lawal fired a ferocious volley past Sam Tickle to open the scoring – he soon doubled his tally from the edge of the area.
Kilkenny netted his first professional goal from range to make it three and Town’s number nine finished off the side’s scoring for the afternoon, heading in his eighth goal since Boxing Day at the neat post to make it four.
