Head coach Charlie Adam spoke to the media after his side beat Wigan Athletic 402 at Highbury on Saturday afternoon.

This win makes it three games unbeaten for Adam and his squad meaning the gap to safety has shrunk to just seven points thanks to goals from Bosun Lawal, Gavin Kilkenny, and Jayden Stockley.

Here’s what Charlie had to say in his post-match interview:

 On today’s entertaining victory…

“The lads were again magnificent; we again dominated the ball we caused them problems. Ultimately the two goals we lost were difficult goals to lose but again my team showed character and that’s what we’re going to need.

“We scored four goals today. What I will say is that the character of this team again and what we’re trying to do, we’re starting to see what we’re implementing and trying to get and they’re getting the rewards for that.

“It’s the performance that I’m happy with. We took away that second-half performance from midweek against Port Vale to today - the lads were magnificent. Great character. I thought at times the quality of play was good.

On building momentum moving forward…

“I want this club to expect to win football matches. That’s a good habit to have and this group of players are smelling that the performances are good and they’re getting the results for their performances.

“I trust my team and I love watching my team, what they’re doing, how they’re building and how they’re getting better each day and each week in training.

“It’s only three points, we go again next week. We don’t want to get too high on it, we’re happy with the result but we have to try and put that performance together on a consistent basis now.”

On quality performances on the pitch…

“The lads have to enjoy these moments because we work so hard as a group and as a team all week to get this performance. I thought Danny Mayor was magnificent, you can see why he’s played at a higher level and how he can control the match.

“Lawal added two goals. He’s a threat isn’t he and we wanted to use his running power from midfield to affect Wigan and he did that today, ultimately as a midfielder you want to add goals to your game.

“It’s a real honour to have (Bosun Lawal) from Celtic. He’s a terrific young player and has still got bits to learn but from what he has done since I’ve been in the building he’s been outstanding

“The whole dynamics of the group is what will get us through from now until the end of the season. There are lads waiting in the wings for an opportunity. The level of consistency they’ve brought since we’ve come into the club has been really good."
