Two of Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies’ teams were in league action at the weekend, with the First Team travelling away and the Development Squad at home.

Starting this weekly report off with the First Team, who got back on the pitch for the first time in seven weeks, as they headed down the road to face league leaders Cheadle Town Stingers on Sunday at Park Road.

The Ladies went toe-to-toe with Cheadle after making a good start to the game, but they were unlucky to not find themselves ahead. Unfortunately, the hosts managed to break the deadlock after scoring a goal in the last few minutes of the first half.

Chances were still being created at the right end of the pitch as our Ladies looked to bring the game back to level terms. But Cheadle was the team who managed to find the net two more times before the end meaning the hosts would keep the points on the day.

Moving on to the Development Squad now who had a home clash against Lancaster City, which saw both teams come away from the Lancashire County Championship clash with a point apiece.

Much like the First Team, our Ladies started well and managed to assert their dominance early doors, looking dangerous in the final third, but the only thing they were missing was the opening goal of the game.

Lancaster managed to capitalise on the pressure Town applied, as when they pushed players forward, the away side counter-attacked and found the back of the net. This lead didn’t last long, however, as Alisha Rayworth converted from a corner to bring the score to 1-1.

Both sides then looked for the winner in the clash, with each side creating good chances, but it wasn’t meant to be meaning the game saw both sides come away honours even at Common Edge.
