Report: Ladies Development Squad put four past Penrith on the road

Fleetwood Town’s Wrens Ladies only had one of their three sides in action this week as their Development Squad ran away 4-1 winners over Penrith AFC at Frenchfield Pitches.

The momentum in the clash came from the Ladies wanting to start the year positively, but the hosts also had this attitude as they managed to take the lead 15 minutes in after creating multiple chances and being able to find their flow first.

This didn’t change the game plan for the Wrens though as they carried on as they started the game, going on the front foot, and this paid off as they almost immediately squared the scoreline up, and found a second soon after, meaning they would take a one-goal lead into the break.

With the lead already in hand, and the momentum on their side, it was a chance to secure a few more goals and put the game to bed early, which they tried to do as multiple chances were fired on target, only for them to be either saved or deflected wide.

The goals did come eventually, two more in fact, meaning a three-goal lead would be in place so the side could coast to the full-time whistle with the goal scorers Alisha Rayworth, Katie Ramsbottom, and Ruby Hindle – who bagged a brace – all happy with their work on the day – a notable mention to Ashleigh Crook who was named Player of the Match for her performance.

Town Squad: McLaren (GK), C.O’Neill (GK), Brooks, Brown, Crook, Duffy, Dunning, Hague, Hallas, Hill, Hindle, Hutchinson, J.O’Neill, Ramsbottom, Rayworth, Smith.
