Calling all Waterford FC fans travelling over to England next week, we’ve got a full itinerary for Monday and Tuesday ready for you with tours, player meets, and even a quiz all lined up for you to enjoy!
Keith Long’s Blues are readying themselves for a week-long training camp on the Fylde Coast – starting Sunday 14 January – as their first season back in the top league in Ireland is set to begin next month and they will be taking on a Fleetwood side at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday 16 January (7pm kick-off).
Starting the day on Monday is a tour around our training complex, Poolfoot Farm, which will be hosted by the staff working on the day before setting up shop in the bar to have a player meet with a few familiar faces that have made their way over from the Irish side in the last two years.
Food will follow this and then the main event will take place, a quiz hosted by our very own Wayne Bibby, which will start at 8pm. The bar will be open throughout the visit to the training complex, and so will the kitchen, so get ready to fill your boots and have a few laughs at the same time!
Moving on to Tuesday now and, before the game that night between the two Fleetwood Football Group sides, Bibby will do a guided tour of the stadium with the group of supporters, showing the history behind Highbury before walking everyone into Jim’s Bar for a pre-match pint and dance to keep the moods up.
The bar will be open from 4pm so if any Fleetwood fans want to make their way down and make the night even better, let’s build the atmosphere for our friends in blue! After the game, Waterford FC fans can head up to the Parkside Suite with the Fleetwood matchday staff where they can listen to music and carry on into the night.
Any members of the Cod Army who have a season ticket already this season will gain free entry to the fixture. To claim this brand-new benefit, all you must do is head into the club shop at Highbury Stadium, share that you have an interest in attending the game, and you will be able to claim a ticket – this is due to the game having unreserved seating.
