DERBY COUNTY

The Rams come to the Fylde Coast on the back of a rare defeat last time out as they lost 3-2 to Peterborough at Pride Park - conceding two goals in the final moments of the game including a brutal blow in extra time despite Derby having the most ideal start and scoring in the first minute - the loss ended an eight game unbeaten run in all competitions for the Derbyshire side.

Derby won’t be too disheartened however, as they sit in a deserved fourth place with expectations of being near, or as close to the top of the table as possible with aspirations to return to the second division at the second time of asking. Saturday’s visitors finished seventh last campaign with 76 points and are already on track via points per game to beat that as Paul Warne’s men have picked up 46 points so far.

A key resource for Warne is number 9 James Collins. The irish international has ten goals so far this campaign and scored a brace the last time the two sides met in December as Derby ran out 3-0 winners in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage.

WHAT NEW COACH CHARIE ADAM HAD TO SAY

“All the players and new staff are gelling well at the present, things can only get better from now so it will eventually benefit the team going forward - I’m the head coach at this football club but if the players have some input I’ll be open to it and ready for an honest conversation - but I’m the one in the dugout that’s trying to make this team win football matches.

“I’m excited for every game, it’s a group full of characters, every player needs to be on their A-game because I’m the one that needs to find the best eleven for this Saturday afternoon against Derby, especially with Sky coming here.

“Derby are a big club, we know it’s going to be a tough challenge, but we’ll be ready, we’ll be prepared and we’ll give it a right-good-go because there’s a good pitch at Highbury to play football where we now want this team to represent the passion and pride the town itself has.”
