Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of forward Ronan Coughlan from League of Ireland Premier Division side Waterford FC.

The 27-year-old striker, who joins from our sister club over in Ireland, netted 37 goals in all competitions last campaign and broke the First Division scoring record, the all-time Waterford record for the most goals in a single season, whilst also helping the Blues secure promotion in the process.

Our new number 33’s last goal for the Blues was arguably the most important as he was the man who scored the winner in the 2-1 play-off final win over rivals Cork City back in November, with Town midfielder Barry Baggley also in the squad on the day.

The experienced forward, born in Limerick, has already spent time in England, having been at Championship side Huddersfield Town between 2014 and 2017, before heading back to Ireland to feature for Bray Wanderers, Cork City, Sligo Rovers, and St. Patrick's Athletic.

This isn't the first link between the two clubs in the Fleetwood Football Group as Phoenix Patterson and Junior Quitirna have also come across the pond, with Baggley earning a spot in the First Division Team of the Year last season after spending time there on loan.

He will now test himself in League One having just signed an 18-month contract subject to international clearance.
