Our Community Trust has had many successes from its work placement programme and one of those would be Nick, who has been part of it since September of last year, working in various departments here at Fleetwood Town!
Nick, who is a local student and super-fan of the Club, has been in and out of the offices at Highbury Stadium and has even spent time on the pitches with the grounds team as he prepares himself for the world of work when he finishes his formal education.
As a marker of his good work so far, the Club – alongside the Community Trust – wanted to congratulate him so when Jayden Stockley came forward saying he would give him a match-worn shirt and surprise him with it on a match day, it was a perfect match!
The day wasn’t over there for Nick though as he was also gifted the full mascot package meaning he would be able to go into the dressing rooms ahead of kick-off and meet all the players and staff before kick-off, which was certainly well received by him on the day.
Nick, on the experience, said: “What an experience that was! I would like to thank Jayden as it was a massive surprise; when I received the shirt ahead of the game, I was extremely happy as this is now my new favourite top – I even hugged him there and then!
“My work experience at the club shop has been amazing as I just love being around the club! I’d also like to thank Dave, who has been a great mentor, helping me improve my maths skills and customer service - one day I would like to work at the club when I leave school.”
