Forward Promise Omochere spoke to the media after his return to action in the final 20 minutes of Fleetwood Town’s league clash against Derby County on Saturday.

Omochere was out for two months since, with his last game being against Exeter City in November, and despite the long break, Omochere has relished the chance to develop off the pitch which rewarded him with a hard-working cameo at Highbury Stadium.

Here’s what he had to say:

On his return…

“It’s been great to get back out there, it’s frustrating to be watching from the sidelines, I’m delighted to be back, especially when there was a lot to be encouraged by, I think if we play like that every week there is every chance the results and the three points will follow.

“Exeter was my last game and that was two months ago; I have had to work hard in the gym and I would like to thank the staff and the physios – they’ve got me back to this point, it’s so good to be back out there after a frustrating few months doing rehab.

“Sometimes, I have been at the training ground even when the rest of the players and the staff haven’t been in, I have been trying to get myself back as soon as possible and as safe as possible but that’s been a boost for the lads because we need everyone fit and healthy.”

On a new-found belief in the building...

“Since the gaffer [Charlie Adam], Ross Wallace, and Maurice [Ross] have come in, the mood in the building has been lifted. There is a huge feeling of belief in the building, there has been a huge change, and everyone is buzzing again.

“There is a new lease of life everywhere around the club and it is just a matter of time until we get the three points, and we kick on from there. I’m just excited for the next few weeks so we can see how the business end of the season unfolds.

“We have added Ronan Coughlan, who is a proven goal-scorer; you can see his numbers from last season he knows where the net is and has an eye for the goal which is something we need in the next few weeks.”
