Fleetwood Town's Under-18s came away 2-1 winners over Birmingham City in their latest Professional Development League clash at the Wast Hill Training Ground on Saturday morning.

The game started in a way coach Mark Yeates would have wanted as his two forwards, Hermann Daha and Dom Richmond, both linked up at the top end of the pitch, with the latter showing his skills to take on his marker and confidently slot into the bottom right corner to open the scoring.

Another brilliant chance in the first half was forced by Bosembo Namputu's closing down from the front as he forced an error from the Blues' backline as they passed the ball to Theo Butterworth, who pounced on the chance 18 yards out, but his effort flew just over the crossbar.

After that positive first-half performance, Daha decided to try an effort for himself off the left wing. Harvey Fletcher and Jack Doherty linked up in the middle to start the move, with the ball falling to the number nine out on the wing, whose shot was collected by the goalkeeper.

Richmond completed his brace not long after as some good closing down, this time by substitute Under-15 Reece Wilkes, helped win the ball back in the opposition's half and our Montserrat international left everyone breathless as he chanced it 30 yards out and found the top corner.

The Under-18s will be hoping to take this result, and momentum, into their next fixture which is a Professional Development League Cup clash against Millwall on Tuesday morning (11am kick-off).

Town XI: Bellizia (GK), Cirino, Elmore (Jake Doherty 87'), Fletcher (Wilkes 65'), Butterworth (C), Eccles, Richmond, Namputu, Daha, Jack Doherty, Roberts (Animasaun 45').
