Fleetwood Town can confirm the signing of young forward Tommy Lonergan from League of Ireland Premier Division side St Patrick’s Athletic on a two-and-a-half-year deal, with the club holding an option for a further year.

The 20-year-old is a natural finisher in front of goal as he managed to find the back of the net 12 times in his first professional season for UCD, with one of those being the winning goal in the Promotion/Relegation Play-off Final against our sister club Waterford FC back in 2022.

Lonergan, who scored in the final of the FAI Cup which they won 3-1 over Bohemians in front of a record crowd at the national stadium last season, arrives on the Fylde Coast boasting European experience as he featured in the UEFA Youth League the Europa Conference League respectively.

Dunboyne-born Lonergan has represented his national team, the Republic of Ireland, at three different age groups so far in this career starting at Under-16s level, whilst also featuring for the Under-18s and Under-19s, scoring eight goals in 14 international appearances.

The new number 14, who has signed on until the summer of 2026, will now test himself in League One as he is eligible for Saturday’s league clash against Port Vale.
