Fleetwood Town boss Charlie Adam has spoken to the media after picking up his first win as head coach in the 3-0 home win over Port Vale.
Goals from Jayden Stockley, Ronan Coughlan, and Ryan Broom respectively were more than enough as Town ended up victorious and earning Adam’s first three points as a head coach.
Here’s what Charlie said after the game:
On earning a precious three points…
“We’re delighted; I thought the lads were excellent and it’s a great lift for the whole football club and the whole town. It’s been a month now that I’ve been in the building and this has been coming, this performance has been coming slowly but surely.
“We thoroughly deserved the win today and we have to not get too carried away, but we have to enjoy the moment. We have to get the focus ready for Tuesday because Bristol Rovers is going to be a tough one and I’m looking forward to the next challenge.
“[Ronan Coughlan’s first goal for Fleetwood] was special for us. It takes time for players to settle but Ronan, through his energy and his hard work in training, deserves an opportunity. I just liked everything I saw about him. He deserves his opportunity, and he got his goal.”
On improved recent performances…
“We always say if we get the performance right then results will come and in the last game and a half, I thought we were excellent. That whole team performance [today] was big from Stockley right back through to Jay Lynch I thought they were magnificent.
“I thought we had the [three points] last week. The lads showed tremendous character to bounce back from last week, we freshened it up with Promise being out suspended and we managed to get the win today.
“Harvey Macadam comes in today and does well for a period of time and comes off with a bit of an injury - he should be ok. [Bosun] Lawal’s athleticism, how he can control and pass the ball really helps us as well.”
