Head coach Charlie Adam spoke to the media after his side came back from behind to earn a point from their clash against Reading at Highbury on Tuesday evening.

It was a very tight game in terms of chances created and, when Lewis Wing whipped a wondergoal from 20 yards, it looked likely for the Royals to take all three points, but the stoppage-time equaliser meant the spoils would have to be shared.

Here’s what Charlie had to say in his post-match interview:

 On this evening’s draw…

“[The late goal] was thoroughly deserved; we had the best chances of the game and I think we deserved to win the match. I thought we dominated the game, had the best chances, and passed the ball well.

“But when we got into the final third in the first half our opportunities and our selection were the opposite of what we wanted. When you’re in a position that we’re and you’re dominating the ball and creating chances, then we’ll win football matches.

“The lads have given me everything since I’ve come in and they’ve given me everything tonight - they deserve that draw. There are things we need to work on, we need to get better – I’ll take that endeavour, attitude, and hunger to go for 95-96 minutes.”

“We felt that the [Promise Omochere’s chance] was over the line, but we didn’t let our heads drop, we obviously conceded a goal, but we battled on and we thoroughly deserved that 95th-minute equaliser.”

On the captain and goalscorer Brendan Wiredu…

“I trust him, and I believe in him; he’s been good since I’ve come into the building and taken a grip on the captaincy. I believe he’s a big leader, he deserves the opportunity and he’s shown that with his performances.

“His endeavour, the way he plays and his personality on the ball is helping us but again I think (all the) back three lads were very good again tonight - the same as Saturday.

“[Brendan] deserves his goal but I’m going to ask him again to step up on Saturday and be a leader and focus on his performances in the team. If he’s playing well, it will help the team.

"I’m going to need these types of characters and players in the building. The group, the team, the club, and the supporters there was a togetherness tonight and we have to keep carrying that on and go again Saturday.”

 On the Cod Army faithful…

“I also have to praise the supporters. We have to recognise when it’s time for us to get them off their seats. I thought they were magnificent in that last 10-15 minutes.

“They’re behind you, they’re backing us, and we have to reward them and give them the wins and the opportunities that we deserve – my lads were magnificent, and we’ll need the [fans] again on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward to [Saturday] it’s a big challenge for us. It’ll be a tough game for them, that crowd we’ll be behind us, they’ll be banging that drum and we’re going to need the support because these lads are giving everything.”
