Fleetwood Town’s Under-17s were in Professional Development League Cup action on Tuesday afternoon as they managed to beat Hull City 4-0 at Poolfoot Farm.

Mark Yeates’ young Cods showed their dominance throughout the fixture as four second-half goals were the difference between the two sides at the club’s training complex.

Regular goal scorer Mikey Lane, who was also captain on the day, netted the opener as a slick passing move was worked into the box towards the forward, who calmly slotted home into the bottom right to make it 1-0.

The score line was doubled 10 minutes later as substitute Harry Elmore, who replaced Liam Roberts midway through the first half, replicated the Lane move from earlier in the game, but this time, finessed his effort into the opposite corner.

Full-back Raffaele Cirino soon got into the scoring action as he made it three around the hour mark when he capitalised from a corner routine and completed his brace with not long to as he was able to get his onto a scrappy set-piece routine to round out the game.

It was a great day for the younger age groups as Under-16 David Animassan was subbed on for Adham Slater, who is from the same age group. Pele Smith, another Under-16, also played in the fixture and was subbed off for 14-year-old Reece Wilkes 68 minutes in.

Town XI: Bellizia (GK), Cirino, Slater (Animasann 55’), Smith (Wilkes 68’), Haughey, Eccles, Currie, Jack Doherty, Lane (C), McLean, Roberts (Elmore 32’).
