Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad are in cup action this evening as they are set to take on Nottingham Forest in the opening round of the Premier League Cup at Chorley’s Victory Park (7pm kick-off).

Looking at the form of both sides, the young Cods started out their campaign with a 100% record in the first three games, beating Cardiff City, Watford, and Ipswich Town in the Professional Development League, but have struggled to find that form since.

A first-round exit in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup was on the cards as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League academy, Everton, and the same result came when they faced Queens Park Rangers away from home earlier this month.

Moving on to Forest, they have only managed one win from their opening five fixtures in all competitions, meaning that they find themselves in mid-table in Premier League 2 midway through September.

That sole win came against Arsenal last month – after two straight draws to open their league campaign against Middlesbrough and Norwich City – as they beat them 2-0 at Meadow Lane thanks to goals from Alex Mighten and Esapa Osong on the night.

Tickets for the clash will be sold on Chorley’s ticketing website, with adults able to attend for just £5 and concessions only £1 – you can buy your tickets HERE.
