Fleetwood Town Football Club were delighted to partner with the Fleetwood Town Community Trust to participate in the “McRide Across the World” for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Employees from the Club and the Community Trust headed down to the McDonald’s store situated on Cherry Tree Road in Blackpool to participate in the McRide Across the World campaign.

Following the outstanding success in 2022 where the McDonald’s North-West region cycled from Carlisle to Chicago HQ, raising £75,000, this year’s challenge stretched the region even further, cycling (virtually) from the Ronald McDonald House in Manchester to the RMHC House based in Christchurch New Zealand.

Members of the Club and the Trust, along with our very own Captain Cod, contributed to the 12,000-mile target to help support the RMHC.

Ronald McDonald House Charities offers free 'home away from home' lodging for families with children undergoing medical treatment at hospitals.

Their facilities extend beyond mere accommodations; they supply family-oriented activities, peer support, respite, and various additional services. As a result, families can remain close to their child’s hospital bedside while also preserving a semblance of their usual life with less emotional and financial burden.

The McDonald’s restaurants across Preston and Blackpool raised an incredible £5763.62.

Sam Heaney, Commercial Manager at Fleetwood Town said: “I am happy that Fleetwood Town were able to support the charity and raise awareness. It was a brilliant effort from all those involved raising money for a great cause.”

CEO of the Fleetwood Town Community Trust, John Hartley told us: “The Trust are thrilled to be working in partnership with McDonald's and the Ronald McDonald House Charities, providing unique opportunities to local people. I am excited to see how the relationship can develop to aid the communities we serve.”

Nigel Dunnington, the Franchisee of the McDonald’s restaurants across the area said: "I’m delighted that Fleetwood Town were able to support this fundraising event. Our customers and staff loved seeing Captain Cod on the exercise bike. I’m extremely grateful for their involvement which hugely contributed to the success of the day."
