Fleetwood Town forward Promise Omochere spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon at Poolfoot Farm ahead of the Sky Bet League One match against Lincoln City.

Omochere has made eight league appearances so far this season, and after three starts in the last three league matches, the former Bohiemians forward is now hoping to reach the form that he showed the Cod Army last season to help the side move up the table.

The Irish international knows the importance of this fixture against Lincoln, but pointed out due to their managerial change, Lee Johnson's side now have to focus on themselves more and use the fans to their advantage to pick up three points at Highbury.

Here's what Promise had to say in his pre-match press conference:

On the international break…

“It has been a good week. It has given us the opportunity to work hard and listen to what the new gaffer [Lee Johnson] has had to say and for him to get across the style of play he wants to implement on us.

“The gaffer is very detailed and it’s very different to how I have been coached in the past so even putting mics on players and seeing how they interact with teammates, and this all gives players and staff a different perspective. There’s some shocking banter in the squad but as a player you have to be careful what you say which makes you think.

“We do a lot of video analysis on ourselves and watch a lot of videos back, and this week has given us more time to do that. Being able to see what we did good and what we did bad will help us on the small details.”

On his form and recent fixtures…

“The gaffer has been very good with me since he came in and he has spoken to me and that shows that he believes in me and now I need to repay him. Playing under him, he tells me what to do as I do have a few bad habits that he wants to get out of me but it’s stuff I might not have done before but he’s helping me improve.

“I want to play as many minutes as I can, especially after coming back from my injury, but it’s also about me getting back to full match fitness and to where I was last season.  I have played a lot of games on the wing this season compared to last season being more of a striker, but this year in the 4-4-2, I have been playing right midfield and that’s a position I am not too used to as I like to get in the box more and get in at the far post on crosses, but that’s probably one of the bad habits, getting more organised in my role.

“On a personal note, I am frustrated I haven’t scored this season, but the goals will come and like last season, once one goes in I will hopefully go on a run. I felt more confident after the first went in and hopefully it will come and I will kick on from there. I am not just in the team to score, I need to make sure I am playing under the new gaffer in the way he wants me to.”

On Lincoln City…

“There will be some uncertainty because of them sacking their manager this week, but for us as a team, there’s more focus on how we play and how we want to play and how we can ultimately beat them.

“For us, we want to go out on the pitch on Saturday and put in a performance and then go and get the three points. It is good that we are back on home soil after the international break and after the result last time against Wycombe. We need to get the fans right behind us!”
