Both league and Emirates FA Cup action has been on the cards for our players out on loan in the last week, with one of our players securing their spot in the Fourth Round Qualifying waiting for them in the near future – here’s how they got on.
Starting off with that story as Will Russ, as part of the Marine setup, travelled away to face Hyde United at the weekend and came away from Ewen Fields with a 2-0 win, thanks to long-range strikes from Manasse Mampala in the first half and Sol Solomon just after the break, with FC Halifax Town away in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round coming up in the next few days.
Moving on to FC United of Manchester now as Pat Boyes had a double game week but had a mixed bag of results as they lost out to Workington first, even after a dominant performance from start to finish, before their seven-goal thriller at Marske United away, which they won 5-2 at Mount Pleasant.
It would be fair to say it was a good week for Barry Baggley over in Ireland as he finally made it back onto the pitch at our sister club Waterford FC, as they played out a goalless draw against Wexford at the RSC on Friday evening. He made an instant impact, playing his part in creating multiple chances, but it wasn’t meant to be in the clash – Drew Baker was named on the bench.
Here’s what is up next for our players out on loan:
Baggley & Baker: Galway United v Waterford FC – League of Ireland First Division – Eamonn Deacy Park – Tuesday 10 October (7:45pm kick-off)
Boyes: Morpeth Town v FC United of Manchester – The Isuzu FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round – Craik Park – Saturday 7 October (3pm kick-off)
Russ: Marske United v Marine AFC – The Isuzu FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round – Mount Pleasant – Saturday 7 October (3pm kick-off)
