Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad added another three points to their total on Wednesday afternoon after beating Wigan Athletic 2-1 at Christopher Park.

In the game that was set to initially take place at the DW Stadium, it was a tight game throughout with chances at a premium at both ends of the pitch, but it was Matt Lawlor’s men who managed to take the lead before the break.

It was Hermann Daha who managed to break the deadlock in this one, changing the half-time team talks for both sides, and the Young Cods took advantage of this as they swiftly doubled their lead soon after the break when Sam Fishburn struck home.

The game wasn’t done there though as a former Cod in Max McMillan halved the deficit midway through the second half, making it a nervy affair, but a flurry of substitutions where the likes of Mikey Lane, Harry Wright, and Theo Butterworth all helped sure up the result in the closing stages.

With a good run of form under their belts now, the Under-21s are now eyeing up their next clash which will be against Peterborough United on Tuesday 5 December (12pm kick-off).

Town XI: Donaghy (GK), Johnson (C), Armstrong, Wilson, Pond (Wright 66’), Hughes, Daha (Lane 70’), Glenfield (Butterworth 70’), Fishburn, White, Brown (Fletcher 82’).
