Fleetwood Town's Development Squad ended a long winless streak by picking up all three points away at Coventry City on Tuesday afternoon at the CBS Arena.

Two goals from Maleace Asamoah and headers from Sam Fishburn and Mikey Lane were more than enough to help seal three valuable points on the road for Matt Lawlor and his side as they brushed away Coventry City on their own patch.

Asamoah was on hand to assist Fishburn with the opener, and with the winger causing Coventry troubles all afternoon down the right-flank, when he got that yard of space, he knew just where to put the ball and this is how the first goal happened. Fishburn - who joined in the summer from Carlisle United - worked a yard of space himself inside the penalty area and made sure his header beat City keeper, Luke Bell.

Asamoah thought he doubled Town's lead minutes before the half-time break, but as the ball left his boot it looked goal-bound, but Bell was on hand to get a fingertip on the ball to send it away for a Fleetwood corner.

He did manage to get on the scoresheet and score that all important goal in the 69th minute as he converted from 12-yards to increase his side's lead. Right at the death, he made it three to the visitors after firing his effort into the top corner after Mikey Lane's assist.

But that wasn't it, substitute Lane got in on the act after replacing Fishburn on 75 minutes, and the first-year scholar managed to nod the ball home from Pharrel Brown's cross to seal the win for the young Cods!

The hosts did have a few chances themselves throughout the match, with first teamer Callum O'Hare looking to get on the scoresheet for the Sky Blues. His strike from 18-yards hit the post but if it had gone in, it wouldn't have counted due to the linesman's flag being up on the far side. O'Hare did have another chance to equalise, but his free-kick sailed just over the bar.

The Sky Blues pushed for a way back into the game, and with two minutes left on the clock, Rylie Siddall fired just wide of Donaghy's goal from distance after some fantastic work from teammate Evan Eghosa.

It just wasn't to be for the hosts on the day with Town picking up the win on the road.

Fleetwood Town's next match will take place on Friday 10 November away at Huddersfield Town in the Premier League Cup. Details for that fixture will be announced in due course.

Town's starting XI: Donaghy (GK), Johnson (C) (Cirino, 86'), Armstrong, Wilson (Namputu, 75'), Pond, Hughes (Hoyle, 57'), Asamoah, Glenfield, Fishburn (Lane, 75'), White, Brown.
