Loan watch: Baggley and Baker progress to a national final

Our players out on loan have had another busy weekend as two have reached another national final, with others picking up debuts, and more over the last seven days.

Starting as we have done over the last couple of weeks, we are featuring the success Barry Baggley and Drew Baker have been having over in Ireland with our sister club as they managed to earn their spot in the League of Ireland Promotion/Relegation Final after beating Cobh Ramblers 2-1 a Turner’s Cross in added time, with Baggley producing the assist for Ronan Coughlan’s opener.

This good news has been backed up by the newly formed duo down in Torquay, with Theo Williams joining Callum Dolan at United this week. Both of them featured in their league fixture against Bath City, which they won 1-0 on the day, as Dolan was named in the starting eleven and Williams made a 35-minute cameo from the bench.

Another team to have two loanees from Fleetwood is King’s Lynn Town who, much like Torquay above, played both George Morrison and Billy Jones in their clash with Peterborough Sports in the league, with George starting the game and Billy making an impact after being subbed on for Clifford with 22 minutes to go in the game that finished in a 1-1 draw at Lincoln Road.

As we’ve reported every week since he joined his loan side, goalkeeper Pat Boyes has kept up his ever-present stature at FC United of Manchester in their game at the weekend against Hyde United. The side from Greater Manchester managed to create plenty of chances, with Boyes left with his thoughts in the goal for much of the game, but the result didn’t go their way as they lost 2-0.

Another player who has made yet another appearance for his loan side is defender Tom Hoyle who played the full 90 in Witton Albion’s Northern Premier League Division One West league fixture against Trafford on Saturday afternoon, with the result not going in their favour as they suffered a defeat on the day.

Finally, two players weren’t in action for the respective loan sides for various reasons over the last seven days, with Cian Hayes not having a game scheduled in the calendar at Rochdale and Will Russ having to miss Hyde United’s Cheshire Senior Cup clash against Cheadle Heath Nomads and their league fixture against FC United of Manchester due to an ongoing injury.
