Both staff and volunteers from Fleetwood Town’s Community Trust took on the challenge to walk from Morecambe to Fleetwood ahead of the two sides’ meeting in February and they raised close to £2000 for local charities!
The mammoth challenge of walking the 20.4 miles from Morecambe's Mazuma Stadium to Fleetwood Town's Higbury Stadium in aid of raising vital funds for future Health and Wellbeing projects and, after with the monies now collected, the Club and Trust are extremely pleased to announce a total of £1,898 has been raised.
All money raised will specifically support local veterans with the integration into the localised Armed Forces community, promoted through a range of health and wellbeing initiatives delivered through Trust staff - weekly activities include football, walk & talk, and boxing.
John Hartley, Deputy CEO of the Community Trust, said: “I am extremely proud of the team involved, they have shown immense commitment to support those most in need within our local community. I would also like to thank everybody that have donated and sent messages of encouragement throughout the day, spurring the team on!”
