Midfielder Scott Robertson spoke to us after Town played out a 0-0 draw with Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Highbury.
Robertson - who joined the club in January 2023 on a two-and-a-half-year deal - ran out a full 90 minutes in the pre-season clash.
The midfielder spoke to the media about the challenge of facing higher opposition and what the squad can take from pre-season.
Here’s what Scott had to say about the game:
A good workout against tough opposition….
“It’s these sorts of games that you enjoy playing against opposition higher up because ultimately that’s the level that we want to get to - it was an enjoyable test against a really good team.
“I think they dominated the ball but in terms of chances we probably had a few more clear-cut chances and were unlucky not to win in the end.
“The Hearts game was a really good exercise for us they’re a really good team, probably similar to Blackburn in terms of trying to play the same way - those two games especially were very tough."
What players can take from pre-season…
“Everyone can get more minutes in their legs and everyone’s just raring to go and for the season to start to be honest.
“Pre-season as you know it’s the toughest part of the season probably, it’s been good, been enjoyable, it’s been good getting fit and good being away in Waterford with the boys spending time with them as well.
“I think with all the games we’ve had so far it’s been a different level of opponent which is always good, it’s going to stand us in good stead going into the season.”
