Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies kicked off their pre-season schedule on Sunday afternoon with a narrow 2-1 loss to Preston North End in Bamber Bridge.
The ladies travelled to the Leisure Centre in Bamber Bridge for the 2pm kick-off at the weekend and took the opportunity with both hands as it was a chance to take a large squad, full of first team and reserve players to get some minutes in their legs.
It was a good start to the fixture, considering the mix of players throughout the squad, although our Ladies were lucky not to go a goal down as the hosts struck the post with an early effort.
This didn't stop the Ladies from creating fantastic attacking spells of play and were could have brought the game back to level terms soon after, but the Preston keeper pulled off some great saves.
Emily Slater did find the back of the net for the Ladies and scored a fantastic, composed goal, the ladies were very much in the game throughout, even with constant changes and subs being made.
Unfortunately, Preston did manage to find a second goal not long before full-time, seeing them go back ahead in the clash, but everyone involved had positives to take from the fixture with the most important thing being minutes in the tank for the Ladies!
Great to see you back underway, Ladies!
