Fleetwood Town's Development Squad narrowly lost out in their latest pre-season friendly as they faced Barnoldswick Town at the Silentnight Stadium on Tuesday.
It was a game of few chances from the start with the real effort coming after 11 minutes when Josh Edwards picked up the ball in the midfield and played an outside-the-foot cross into the box, towards Mikey Lane at the back post, who saw his header tipped over by the goalkeeper.
Matt Lawlor’s side had another go at taking the lead on the half-hour mark when Pharrell Brown, who made his first team debut last season in the win against Accrington Stanley, cut in from the left and curled an effort on goal from 20 yards, which needed to be cleared off the line.
It was heartbreak at the end of the fixture though as the hosts managed to break the deadlock a minute before the final whilst as a cross in from the left was aimed at the back post, where Gareth Hill met it and prodded the ball into the back of the net.
