Fleetwood Town quartet Brendan Wiredu, Promise Omochere and Isabella Hendry and Libby Walmsley paid a visit to Garstang Primary School to discuss their journey in football and to take part in a dodgeball session on the school playground.
With the club getting back out into the community for the first time this season, two first team players and two ladies from the Wrens headed into Garstang to spend some time with a Year 5 and 6 classes, who were learning about mental health and the transition from Primary to Secondary school
Isabella and Libby arrived early to surprise the school kids - and with the hype of the Womens' World Cup, and the Lionesses starting their tournament off this Saturday at 10:30am against Haiti - it was all talk about the tournament before a quick game of dodgeball - a competitive contest that's for sure!
Brendan and Promise arrived at the school a little later and took to the classroom to take part in an assembly with the Wrens stars - which started off with the lads telling the kids how much they have sacrificed to get to where they are today.
All four promoted the benefits of healthy eating and giving advice on how to deal with disappointment and being the person you want to be.
The quartet then took time to sign shirts that a number of children brought in and also signed autographs to those meeting their idols.
It was great to see the interaction between the players and the pupils, building a rapport ahead of the new 2023/24 season!
