Fleetwood Town can confirm that goalkeeper Pat Boyes has joined non-league side FC United of Manchester on a loan deal.

Boyes joined Town in June on an inital one-year deal from League Two side Hartlepool United, with the 20-year-old having spent some time at Grimsby Town - who Town play in their final pre-season match at Highbury on Saturday 29 July at 3pm.

The young goalkeeper has already played a match for his new side, which was against Warrington Town FC on Tuesday 18 July - with Boyes making a crucial save late on to ensure his side picked up the win.

Jack Higgins, Fleetwood Town's Academy Manager said: "We are delighted to have reached an agreement to send Pat on loan to FC United.

"He's had a great start with them already in pre-season, which we all hope sets the tone for a successful season for both parties. This is a great opportunity for Pat to continue his development at such a young age.

"We've always had a fantastic relationship with FC United and it will hopefully be the right blend with him playing matches as well as being pushed at Fleetwood Town where he will continue to train."

We wish Pat all the best during his loan spell in Greater Manchester.
