Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies were back in action on Sunday afternoon, and started off the new year in style with wins for the Reserves and Development Squad.

With the First Team not in action due to a waterlogged pitch, it was down to the Wrens Ladies Reserves and Development Squad to pick up the wins.

The Resevers travelled away to take Darwen FC Ladies, and after not playing for several weeks, it was great for the Ladies to be back on the pitch together. After a slow start for the Ladies, McCarthy got the ball rolling when she found the net - giving Town the lead.
Darwen reacted welll and managed to get themselves one back. Fleetwood battled and bagged another goal just before half-time. It was a great goal from Aitken - who put the Ladies in front at the break.
It was a much better performance from the girls in the second half. The Ladies took control and started to play some brilliant football which resulted in more goals being scored. Goals from Daniel, Hodkin, Brandes and Gregory ensured the Ladies brought home the three points. The unbeaten start to the season continues.
The Ladies welcomed Penrith AFC's Development Squad to Poolfoot Farm on Sunday 8 January for the first clash of 2023. Just like the Resrves, it had been a while since a ball was kicked so it was important to get off to a fast start, and the ladies did exactly that.
It was a good display from the whole team, who dominated the game across all the areas of the pitch. With some fantastic goalkeeping from McLaren, who made a vital save in the first half, it made the team more focused.
With a brace from Ramsbottom and a super goal from Jones and Fryer, it ensured the Ladies grabbed all the points for the Cod Army!
