Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad played a friendly against Oldham Athletic on Wednesday afternoon, which ended in a 1-1 draw at Poolfoot Farm.

The first chance of the game fell to the young Cods as Callum Dolan picked up the ball and cut in from the left, seeing an opportunity to try his luck from range and that he did as he forced a diving save from the Oldham keeper.

Just before the half-time break, another chance came Fleetwood’s way as Danny Edwards did well to keep hold of the ball inside the opposition half before laying it off to Akiel Raffie on the edge of the box, but his effort towards the bottom-right was saved well.

Max McMillan had a good start to the second half as he managed to break the deadlock by firing home from the penalty spot, even though the keeper dived the right way, and he made another chance a couple of minutes later as he hurdled a challenge and forced yet another save.

The three points looked to be staying on the Fylde Coast, but it wasn’t meant to be as a challenge inside the area with five minutes to go led to a penalty for the visitors, which was dispatched cleverly past Stephen McMullan meaning the game would end one apiece.

Town XI: McMullan (GK), Teale (Bird 46’), W.Johnson (Hoyle 62’), Baker, Arthur, Raffie, Thompson, Dolan (King 62’), McMillan, Russ (Brown 46’), D.Edwards.
