The Reserves were back in league action on Sunday and were back on the road travelling away to The Fibrus Community Stadium to take on Workington Ladies Reds.

This match was set to be a great challenge the Ladies, who were focused on taking their form they had found in their recent cup games into this fixture on Sunday.

The Ladies started extremely well asserting dominance from the get go, and with endless amounts of possession, the link up play across the thirds was brilliant, and this resulted in Town creating chance after chance. It's fair to say the Wrens looked dangerous everytime they stepped into the oppositions half.

The partnership of Ruby Farrell and Emily McCarthy caused nightmares for the Workington back line and the girls were left wondering how they hadn't scored in the first half as they did have many chances throughout the first 45 minutes - were Town going to regret not being more clinical?

The second half unfolded and the brilliant aggressive nature continued from Fleetwood and they went straight on the front foot looking to break the dead lock. With lots of build up play and numerous fantastic balls into the box, Town were still looking for the first goal.

Finally, Farrell found her first of the game and what a well truly deserved goal it was for Fleetwood to take the lead. The hosts did react well, however Fleetwood continued to play well and keep the lead.

All seemed well for the visitors until the hosts were awarded a free-kick. Workington managed to convert the set-piece finding themselves back in the game with scores all level. Fleetwood were not going to settle for a point and reacted well as minutes later Ruby Farrell found her second of the game which was ultimately the winner in the game.

Fleetwood continued to play their football and were unlucky not to convert more chances and find themselves in a more comfortable position. Despite not being clinical in the final third, it didn't stop the Ladies working hard until the very end to ensure all three points came home.

It was a great performance and a worthy three points for the Reserves, and our Player of the Match was Charmaine Cardwell, who was outstanding from the first to the last whistle. Well done, Girls!
