Report: Under-21s lose out to Premier League side Forest

Fleetwood Town's Development Squad narrowly lost out to Premier League side Nottingham Forest at the Impact Arena on Thursday evening.

Matt Lawlor's side started the game in a positive way, constantly on the attacking side of play, and that worked in their favour as midfielder Sam Glenfield found himself on the score sheet once again after being played in by Under-18s forward Hermann Daha just before.

With a lead to protect now, it was Nottingham's turn to try and attack the Town goal but, thanks to a good defensive display in the first half, it meant that they would go into the break with a one-goal lead.

Goalkeeper Tom Donaghy was called into action at the start of the second period to keep the clean sheet intact, which he did after a brilliant save, but a mad 10 minutes after this flipped the game on its head.

After a goalmouth scramble, the ball ends up rolling over the line meaning the score is level once again and, eight minutes later, the hosts took the lead for the first time in the game after netting from the penalty spot.

With one last chance to salvage something from the game, Harry Wilson stood over a free-kick 12 minutes from time, which went just off target, meaning it ended in a defeat on the road for our Young Cods in their final game before Christmas.

Town XI: Donaghy (GK), Cirino, Wright-Ocana, Wilson, Pond, Hoyle, Daha (Butterworth 70'), Glenfield (C), Fishburn, White, Brown.

Unused subs: Cragg (GK), Jack Doherty, Smith, Lane.
