Fleetwood Town manager Lee Johnson has had his say on tonight's 2-0 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers in the Club's final game of the calendar year.

Town were beaten 2-0 at Highbury Stadium on Friday night with goals from Dion Charles early in the second period and then Victor Adeboyejo scored late on in the second half to give the visitors three vital points in their push for promotion.

Here is what the manager had to say in his post-match interview:

On the 90 minutes of football...

"It was a tough game. It was always going to be with the quality that Bolton has, they are a well-established side in the division. They have had that time to build, they're a good club and an ex-Premier League club but we felt that at half-time that we had put ourselves in a position to give them a good go in that second half, we did ever-so well before half-time in treacherous conditions.

"What we don't do is affect boxes enough. We all know that and you do have to give credit to Bolton but in the end, we are the masters of our own downfall with individual errors. That has been the story of this calendar year, the errors simply have to stop.

"We did lack some quality at times but there were also some good performances in there. I thought Callum Dolan was outstanding in there and Bosun Lawal was solid in there at the back. We do have players there but we just need to sort out a few final tweaks."

On the never-say-die attitude...

"We have 15 players for various reasons unavailable today, that is difficult for a club like us. Were the fans magnificent? Yes, so we will react to that and realise that we aren't going to throw the towel in. I am well up for the fight, we have 23 games now where we have to get a few wins in there.

"We do have some individual scenarios that we have to work on, but we need to stick together as a fanbase and as a team. I'm looking at the fitness levels as a team and we need to be better, we have to build these athletes to be more robust and to go longer, that will help us turn this form around."

On turning a corner in the New Year...

"I'm looking forward to the second half of the season and I'm looking forward to the new year. The new year means people go into the games with a new mindset and that can refresh people and can turn some positivity - we need to grab the bull by the horns. We believe we can go on a run of wins which will help our situation.

"We always enjoy having our fans travel with us and we will get the boys ready again. It isn't a lack of effort I promise you, the staff have been fantastic at every level all the way through, we don't want to let anyone down and I promise everyone we're not trying to do that.

"It isn't an easy window the January one, we want experience but it is an easy sales pitch but it isn't easy to get people through on day one, two, three or four."
