Fleetwood Town’s Former Players Association all met up once again for their monthly get together and they were all in the festive spirit with it being their annual Christmas meeting.

The meeting opened with the usual remarks from FPA Chairman Stuart Murdoch, who listed out the names of those who couldn’t be there, then listed off all the birthdays that will take place ahead of the next meeting in January 2024.

The action packed meeting then kicked off in style. In November's meeting, the group took part in the famous 'Higher or Lower' game with Kevin Byrne once again on microphone trying to do his best impression of Bruce Forsyth with the contestants - also known as Town's former players.

Members were told ahead of the meeting to turn up in their best Christmas jumpers and the players didn’t take that lightly with festive cheer shown throughout. A competition was put in place, with the winner getting a box of Quality Streets for their efforts on the day, but we have to say on a whole, well done to all involved!

The finale then came as the players got their drinks and sat around the tables at Poolfoot Farm for their Christmas dinner. With the clock ticking to midday, the group readied themselves for a full Christmas dinner, provided by the club which included turkey, roasties, pigs in blankets and more of your Christmas dinner favourites.

As food settled in stomachs, two Former Players - who are also part of the Academy staff - made an appearance. Nathan Pond and new Head of Academy Goalkeeping Scott Davies came down to speak to those at the tables and looked back at the good old days from years gone by, to those more local times.

Fleetwood Town manager Lee Johnson also showed his face at the meeting and after being introduced, he talked about his career and his time so far at the Club whilst also making time to speak to all inside Poolfoot Farm.

It’s been another brilliant year for the Former Players Association. The members count has grown consistently throughout the 12 months, with the association bringing smiles and cheers to all those involved – here’s to another great 12 months for the FPA!

From all at Fleetwood Towm, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!
