Pre-season continued on Sunday for Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies as they welcomed Motherwell Women FC to the Fylde Coast for a pre-season friendly in Thornton.

Sunday was another great opportunity for players to get vital minutes in the tank against brilliant opposition - and it was set to be a great test playing against a Scottish Premier League One team!
The Ladies started off well, holding their own with end-to-end spells and with Emily Jones unlucky not to bag herself a goal in the early exchanges. However, the visitors soon managed to break down the Ladies and found the back of the net after roughly 30 minutes to open up the scoring.
Fleetwood reacted well and continued to go toe to toe with the visitors, however, it wasn't long before they managed to find the net twice more, taking the score to 3-0 for Motherwell as the half-time whistle blew.
As the second half got underway, Motherwell asserted their dominance and managed to find the net again. It was a strong display throughout the second half that ensured the visitors continued to add to their goal tally, with the Cod Army continuing to play well throughout and the coaches have lots of positives to take from the performance regardless of the score.
Despite the result, it was great to see lots of the Ladies get vital minutes in their legs before the start of the new season. As a Club, we are proud we got the opportunity to host such a side & wish them luck for the season ahead!
