Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies walked away winners in their pre-season friendly against Chorley Women on Thursday evening, beating them 3-2 at the JMO Sports Park.
It was a tough clash for the Ladies as they took on a good side in Chorley, and it wasn’t the start to the game they would have wanted as the hosts found the back of the net early and took that lead into half-time.
After a team talk at the break, the Wrens came out the stronger as they pulled it back to level terms through a strike from Emily Jones – the player of the match – who swiftly turned one goal into two, which saw the side take the lead for the first time.
Chorley did pull one back soon after, but the squad dug deep and showed great character as they found the winning goal late on. Holly Hunter was the player to score the winner and this goal rounded out a well-organised friendly away from home.
With this win bringing confidence to the side, they can now turn their attention to their clash against Motherwell Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick-off) at Thornton Cleveleys Football Club – come down and show your support!
