Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce defender Bosun Lawal has joined the club on loan from Scottish Premiership side Celtic until the end of the season.

Lawal, who has represented the Republic of Ireland from the Under-15s to Under-21s levels, is taking another step in his career as he joins Town on his first career loan move after impressing for Celtic B over the last two years.

The 20-year-old’s career started in a similar fashion to Promise Omochere, as he played his youth football in Dublin before making the move to England when Watford came in for his signature in 2019.

Whilst with the Hornets, the six-foot-two centre-half was named as the Watford Academy’s Player of the Year and certainly took that form above the border as he made his first-team debut for Celtic in January against St Johnstone.

On the loan signing, head coach Scott Brown said: “Bosun wants to come to Fleetwood and that was a huge factor in bringing him in. It’s also the fact that he’s a good person, and player, and has a lot of pace.

"He’s very good with the ball on the floor and can start attacks for us. With the way we want to play, we don’t want too many mistakes at the back so we're happy to welcome him in.

"He’s young and learning the game at the same time so it will be a great opportunity for him to come here on his first loan and show what he’s all about. We just need to make sure that Bosun goes back to Celtic better so they can get into Brendan [Rodgers]’s squad.”

Welcome to Fleetwood, Bosun!
