Forward Ryan Graydon spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon after netting his first goal for the club on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup.

Graydon, who joined the club from Irish Premier Division side Derry City, has been an ever-present in the side throughout pre-season and has now featured in two games for the Cods, one in the league and the other in the Carabao Cup.

In the latter of those games, the Irishman leapt up and nodded home his first goal for the club, latching onto Junior Quitirna’s corner kick at Vale Park on Tuesday evening, marking the start to his goalscoring form at Town.

Here’s what Ryan had to say in his interview:

On his first few games in English football…

“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, coming over here after having six months under my belt already, it’s a new adventure for me. I’ve come in to play so it’s good to get minutes under the belt and get used to things, I’m just looking to kick on even further now.

“The League of Ireland runs through the summer and breaks through winter, which is different to over here, but if I was still there, I’d be playing until November or December anyway. It hasn’t hit the body yet, but I’m sure it will eventually.

“This league is a step up from the League of Ireland as it’s more challenging on your body, but it is nothing I’m not prepared for or willing to take on. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time and I’m ready to take that next step now.”

On his first goal and kicking on from there…

“It was good to get the first goal out of the way and open up the account; with the new role that the gaffer wants to play me in, it’s something I need to add to my game so it’s good to get number one sorted, especially in a competitive game.

“I’m just looking to kick on and get more goals now! I’ve been used to playing as a winger all my career so, even though it’s not a role I haven't played before, it’s not one I’m used to as much so I’m still adapting to it and the way the gaffer wants to play.

“It’ll be different for myself and for the people watching me play, but it’s something I’m looking forward to and I will take the new role in my stride. I’m happy that the gaffer has brought me over and put me in his plans – hopefully, I can go and prove him right now.”
