Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce a new partnership with #HerGameToo, which aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within the realms of football.
Town join a number of clubs from the EFL and beyond to commit to the cause, creating further awareness of the problems faced in football by females.
#HerGameToo was founded by 12 passionate female football fans who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.
The non-profit organisation aims to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community and create strong relationships with clubs, among much more.
Further aims include creating regular content to champion women in football (players, staff and fans), creating strong relationships with club trusts and communities, having a presence at football grounds and sports bars to build a more welcoming environment for young girls and women as well as continuing to campaign against sexism in football and online abuse.
Fleetwood Town boasts three brilliant teams in our Wrens Ladies setup in addition to the recently launched Ladies Walking Football, whilst the Fleetwood Town Juniors and Community Trust respectively provide development centres to young girls where they learn fundamental skills and progress into grassroots formats of the game.
John Hartley, Fleetwood Town Community Trust CEO explained: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Her Game Too as we continue to echo the message that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated at Fleetwood Town Football Club.
"It’s vital that we work in unison with the Fleetwood Town Family and the partnership extends out to Fleetwood Town Wrens and Fleetwood Town Juniors as we collectively spread awareness to tackle sexist abuse specifically.
"We know that the Cod Army faithful will back this campaign to ensure Highbury Stadium remains a welcoming and safe environment for all supporters.”
