Fleetwood Town midfielder Brendan Wiredu has been named in the EFL's Sky Bet League One Team of the Week after his performance against MK Dons on Saturday 22 April.
Brendan - who joined Town in the summer transfer window from league Two side, Colchester United - has made 45 appearances this season, whilst featuring in multiple positions, most noticeably at centre-back after coming in as a central midfielder.
With two goals to his name - ones against Barrow and Oxford United on home soil - the 23-year-old has seen his role change, and instead of creating and scoring goals, he has been denying goals at the other end with vital blocks and tackles.
Big tackles and interceptions at the weekend against MK Dons helped Town keep a clean sheet in their 19th win of the season in all competitions. With young goalkeeper Stephen McMullan making his debut between the sticks, he, alongisde defensive partner Toto Nsiala, were brick walls in the heart of the defence in the 1-0 win.
Wiredu now joins Jack Marriott, Carlos Mendes Gomes, Danny Andrew and Shaun Rooney as players to pick up this accolade this season.
