Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad came away 3-2 winners from their latest Central League fixture against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday afternoon.

In the clash at the Eddie Dawes Training Ground, it was Town who took the lead in the game just before the half-hour mark as a trialist played a second-phase delivery into a packed area, after a corner, and Darnell Johnson was at the back post to head home from just a couple of yards out.

Two minutes later, the lead was doubled as a tricky bit of play inside the opposition's area saw another trialist  drive towards the goal line before playing a dangerous low-cross in front of the face of goal, which was tapped home by forward Will Russ to make the game 2-0.

The home side did manage to pull one back straight after the half-time break as their forward latched onto a cross at the back post, nodding into the Fleetwood net.

Still, the Cods bounced back within 10 minutes, reinstating their two-goal lead as one of the trialists on show got a vital touch from a header to poke it past the Bolton goalkeeper from inside the six-yard box.

It was a slightly nervy end to the game when Bolton netted their second of the game seven minutes before the end when their forward latched onto a through ball before passing into the bottom left corner, but the result would stay the same until the final whistle, with Matt Lawlor’s side taking all three points from the fixture.

Town XI: Trialist (GK), Trialist, D.Johnson, Trialist, Trialist (Jones 46’), Wilson, D.Edwards (Thompson 71’), Trialist, Trialist, Russ, Trialist (Trialist 66’)
