Fleetwood Town enjoyed an international run-out against Serie B side Como 1907 on the coastline of Lake Como on Thursday afternoon.
In what was a good experience for a relatively young Fleetwood side, it was Como who came out on top as they had former Premier League stars Cesc Fabregas and Patrick Cutrone both find the back of the net in the Italian sunshine.
The hosts took the lead with the first real chance of the game 20 minutes in as Daniele Baselli worked a yard of space and played a perfectly placed pass to Mancuso, who beat his man and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
Town then came back into the fixture on the half hour mark as Callum Morton ran down the wing and, even though he was dispossessed, he won the ball back before playing a low cross to Hayes who finished well from close range.
Before the break, Como managed to find the net on two more occasions as Cutrone found the head of former Premier League star Fabregas, with the latter nodding past Jakub Stolarczyk to make it 2-1.
The next chance saw the next goal as Cutrone found some space inside the Fleetwood area and placed it into the top left corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance of saving it.
Town looked to pull one back at the start of the second half as a free-kick found it’s way to Hayes at the back post, who tried to catch substitute keeper Mauro Vigorito off guard, but the effort went high and wide of the target.
Two more goals fell for the hosts in the second half as Gabrielloni took the ball down well and slotted home for the fourth, and Arrigoni swung a corner in from the left, which went straight into the top right, past Stolarczyk.
Fleetwood did finish the game we as they worked attacks through Akiel Raffie and Hayes, with the former aiming a free kick towards goal with the last effort of the game, which went just off target meaning the game would end 5-1 to the hosts.
