Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad played Salford City on Tuesday afternoon at Poolfoot Farm, and came away 4-0 winners in the friendly match.

With Town dominating throughout, goals from Promise Omochere, Ged Garner, Trialist and Max McMillan saw the Cod Army see off their opponents.

For the first goal, Garner played in Omochere who did well rolling his defender to get one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The Irishman calmly slotted the ball home, giving the whole team confidence throughout.

The visitors did react well after the Fleetwood goal, having a good chance just minutes after conceding, however their forward couldn’t get that fine touch on the ball to send it back Tom Donaghy.

Garner capitalised on Salford’s missed attempt just minutes later, and when Omochere turned provider this time round, Garner had the goal at an acute angle, just slotted it under the diving keeper.

With 15 minutes break, Town came out the traps in the second half just like they finished the first. The Trialist forward scored Fleetwood’s third of the afternoon with a well worked move and finish. Just what the on-watching coaches wanted to see.

The victory was wrapped up with minutes left on the clock. McMillan came on and came in on his favoured right foot from the left flank and curled his shot around the keeper right into the bottom corner.

It was a good workout for Town, with some key first team players getting valuable minutes on the pitch ahead of what is a busy festive period for the Club.
