Head Coach Stephen Crainey spoke to the press after Saturday afternoon’s 3-2 loss to Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

Town took a first-half lead when Deji Oshilaja turned the ball into his own goal. Substitute Dan Butterworth doubled the deficit in the second half when he fired home Cian Hayes’ cross.

The hosts began their comeback with half an hour to go when Oumar Niasse pulled one back. Louis Moult levelled the score in the 84th minute when he poked home from 12-yards before Niasse doubled his tally in added time.

Here’s what Crainey had to say…

On the game…

“It’s disappointing obviously, going 2-0 up away from home, we should be winning the game. I thought we looked comfortable at that point as well.

“It was disappointing. We had some good chances at the other end of the pitch as well to kill the game off which we didn’t take so in that sense it’s a disappointment as well, but we will bounce back on Tuesday.

“I’m confident we can stay up. There’s no negativity, no negative thoughts in that sense. I believe in that group of players in there massively. There’s a mix of experience, a mix of youth so we’ll stick together and keep showing that intensity and cut out the slight mistakes, but we need to do it quickly.”

On the squad…

“I’ve not (seen such a long list of injuries before), but the reality is we go with the boys we’ve got available, and we have some good players available. They showed that for large spells of the game, but we just need to see these games through and get over the line.

“They’ve good players (the younger players). They wouldn’t be at the club if they weren’t and they showed that in large spells in the game, but we just need to show that little bit of cleverness to get us over the line and that’ll come.”

“Whatever team I pick on a Saturday I believe can win games of football and we’re so close but so far. Hopefully, we can cut out the slight mistakes and start winning games of football from now until the end of the season and I’m sure we will do that.”
